Lin-Manuel Miranda and Warner Bros. have reopened the worldwide talent search for the film adaptation of the Tony-award winning musical In The Heights. In the Heights, currently in preproduction, has tapped Hamilton alum Anthony Ramos to play the film’s protagonist and narrator Usnavi del la Vega. Corey Hawkins (BlacKkKlansman, Straight Outta Compton) will play Benny, a strong, smart worker at the Rosario Taxi dispatch. Joseph Velez (Ballers, Stranger Things) will play Kevin Rosario, the owner of the Taxi dispatch.

In The Heights is seeking actors for the role of 15 year old Latino singer, rapper, and dancer Sonny. Sonny is part political genius and part goofball who wants to play video games. Casting is seeking local New York male and female Latin dance experts as well. High level experts in Bachata, Merengue, Salsa, ChaCha, and other Latin styles of all ages, all shapes and sizes are welcome. The musical and screenplay was written by Quiara Alegría Hudes, and the film is to be directed by Jon M. Chu (Crazy Rich Asians).

The previous In The Heights talent search received over 20,000 submissions, and was one of the biggest open calls in entertainment history.
